The variety has a long history dating back to the 18th century and is known under many names, such as Aport, Kaiser Alexander, and President Napoleon. The tree is characterized as being sufficiently resistant to diseases, including apple scab, but it is not self-fertile and requires pollinator varieties.

The fruits reach a weight of up to 500 g or more and have a greenish-yellow color with a red blush or stripes. Consumer maturity occurs from September to October. The fruits are valued as dessert apples and are suitable for culinary use, however, they have a short shelf life, during which they quickly become mealy.
