The variety is a regional cultural heritage of the Palatinate, also known by the names Roter Sickinger and Sickinger Roter. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and the ability to bear abundant fruit, often grown in a high-stem form.

The fruits have a slightly conical, asymmetric shape and a characteristic luster. The fruit flesh is greenish-white, fine-grained, with a low acid content. The variety is versatile, used both for table purposes and for processing.

Harvesting occurs in October. The variety is included in the lists of genetic resources and the Red List of endangered local agricultural crops of Germany.
