The variety is a clone of the Red Delicious apple tree that originated in South Tyrol. The tree is classified as a semi-spur. The variety is intended for commercial fruit growing due to its high productivity.

The fruits have an elongated shape, typical of the Delicious group, and have a saturated dark red color. The variety is used in studies of fruit texture physiology and genetic factors, as well as in trials of fertigation systems in commercial orchards.
