The Holsteiner Gelber Cox variety is a triploid crop. The trees are characterized as vigorous and are suitable for use as standard trees and in intensive orcharding.
The fruits reach harvest maturity by mid-October, and consumer maturity begins at the end of the month and lasts until March. The apples are medium to large in size, rounded, golden-yellow in color with a red blush, sometimes with skin russeting. The flesh is yellowish, coarse-grained, and juicy, possessing a spicy aroma with pronounced acidity.
The variety is demanding regarding growing conditions, requires regular watering, and prefers moderately warm regions. On heavy soils, the risk of bitter pit in the fruit increases. The level of susceptibility to diseases is estimated as medium.
The apples have a universal purpose: they are suitable for fresh consumption, culinary use, baking, and the production of juice or cider.
