The tree reaches a height of about 5 meters. The fruits have an attractive appearance; with good lighting and moderate nitrogen nutrition, they are covered with a red blush over almost the entire surface. Unlike the Sävstaholm variety, Ingelin fruits do not become mealy upon ripening, although the quality of the yield may vary depending on the season.

The variety possesses genetic resistance to scab, conditioned by the Vf-gene, but is extremely susceptible to powdery mildew. Susceptibility to apple tree canker is also noted, which limits its use in organic gardening. In breeding, the variety is known as one of the parents of the Ritt Bjerregaard apple.
