The variety is a descendant of the Cox Orange variety and was discovered in Denmark around 1910. The tree has medium vigor; the crown forms into a rounded-spreading or drooping shape with age. The variety possesses good winter hardiness but requires regular thinning pruning.

The fruits have an average weight of 110 to 140 grams, a round, slightly flattened shape, and a yellow-green color with a dark red or purple blush. The fruit flesh is juicy, aromatic, and has a sweet-and-sour taste. The variety is intended for fresh consumption and processing.

The variety is susceptible to scab and shows particular sensitivity to apple tree canker.
