Fruits of the Jerseymac variety are distinguished by tender flesh, which loses firmness rapidly after harvest. Due to this feature, they are extremely sensitive to mechanical damage and easily develop bruises during harvesting and transport.

The variety is considered difficult to cultivate due to the need for precise determination of harvest time, as the apples are prone to dropping from branches prematurely. Due to low marketability and poor transportability, the variety was excluded from the list of those recommended for production in a number of specialized regions.
