The variety was bred in 1966 as a result of crossing Worcester Pearmain and Starkspur Golden Delicious. The tree has a compact spur-type crown and fruits on spurs. The variety is self-infertile and requires pollinators for fruiting.

Fruits are medium-sized, uniform, with smooth skin, a yellow background, and a bright red blush. The flesh is creamy white, juicy, and sweet in taste with an aroma. Harvest maturity occurs in early October, and the consumption period lasts until December.

The variety is distinguished by good winter hardiness and high resistance to powdery mildew. However, low resistance to scab is noted.
