The Law Red Rome Beauty variety originated in the early 19th century and, according to genetic research results, is identical to such Italian varieties as Mela forestiera, Mela sassa d'inverno, Morella, Bassi Cuneo, Saporito, and Imperatore mutazione Runco. The plant is characterized by susceptibility to scab.

This variety served as the basis for the development of the Starkspur Law Rome breeding form, a spur-type mutation characterized by a compact tree growth habit. Detailed data on fruit characteristics or tree height indicators of the original variety are absent in open sources.
