Variety description

The variety was obtained by crossing Worcester Pearmain and Gladstone varieties. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and an upright spreading crown; the fruiting type is spur-bearing.

The fruits ripen in early August and have dull green skin with a brownish-purple blush. The flesh is white, sweet and aromatic in taste, with a texture ranging from coarse to crisp. The variety is not suitable for long-term storage and is intended for fresh consumption.

The apple tree is self-infertile and belongs to pollination group C, requiring the presence of suitable pollinator varieties. The plant has also been used in breeding work to develop new varieties, such as Merton Knave.
