The Manttoni variety is autochthonous to the Basque Country. The tree is characterized by medium vigor, stable annual yields with a low fruiting intensity. Fruits are of medium to medium-large size, reddish-green in color. Harvesting is carried out in the autumn period, approximately in September-October.

The flavor qualities of the fruits are balanced: they combine moderate sweetness, sour notes, and a slight bitterness. The variety possesses high resistance to most diseases but requires protection against the red spider mite. It is officially included in genetic heritage conservation programs and is recognized within the protected geographical indication system for the production of natural cider.
