The MATAN variety is a local fruit grown in the vicinity of Turin. It is not intended for the mass commercial market and is most often used for preparing regional dishes, including traditional ravioli with apple filling.
The fruits of this variety are characterized by a green skin color, which acquires a reddish tint upon full ripening. The variety has a limited shelf life.
