The variety was bred on the island of Langeland in Denmark. From a genetic perspective, the variety is diploid (2N) and carries the S-alleles S1 and S16b. Currently, the variety is considered part of the cultural heritage, the fruits of which are analyzed by researchers to study the metabolic profile.

Studies of the juice of this variety show a distinctive content of acetate esters. The variety is old and rare, and therefore detailed agronomic characteristics, including maturity dates, tree growth parameters, and disease resistance, are absent in open publications.
