The tree has moderate growth, enters fruiting early, and forms yield primarily on spurs. The variety is characterized by a tendency towards biennial bearing and sensitivity to major apple diseases, including scab and powdery mildew. The crop prefers mid- and high-altitude conditions and poorly tolerates drought.

The fruits are medium-sized, flat-round in shape with slight ribbing. The thick smooth skin becomes intensely yellow upon ripening. The white flesh has a dense, crisp consistency and a taste rich in sugars. A feature of the variety is vitrescence, where the intercellular spaces fill with juice, giving the flesh the appearance of ice.

Harvesting takes place in the first half of October; the fruits have good keeping quality but require control of storage conditions to prevent rotting. The variety is considered endangered and is the subject of biodiversity conservation programs.
