The variety is a natural mutation of Gala. The medium-sized fruits have a carmine-red color over a yellow background, which manifests more intensely than in the parent variety. The flesh is yellowish-cream, juicy, sweet, and aromatic.

The plant is medium-sized with a semi-spreading crown, although there are forms for container cultivation. The variety is diploid; Golden Delicious, Fuji, Idared, Cox’s Orange Pippin, and Granny Smith are suitable for pollination. Disadvantages include susceptibility to scab and European canker.

The harvest period falls at the end of September. The fruits have good keeping quality and can be stored until June in controlled atmosphere conditions. The variety is intended for fresh consumption and commercial horticulture.
