The rootstock was obtained by crossing the Northern Spy variety and the M 1 rootstock. Trees grafted onto it reach a height of 3.8–4.2 meters and enter into fruiting in the 4–5th year. The root system is well-developed and possesses high anchorage, which allows trees to be grown without additional support.

The plant has medium winter hardiness of the roots, withstanding soil freezing down to –12°С. The rootstock is demanding of irrigation, sensitive to collar rot, and is not recommended for heavy clay soils; however, it is resistant to root asphyxia and tolerates high water tables well.

It is characterized by resistance to woolly apple aphid, scab, and powdery mildew. Stooling beds have a pyramidal shape, and shoots root well when hilled. The rootstock does not form root suckers.
