The rootstock was obtained by crossing Malus baccata and the clonal rootstock M.26. During trials in northern regions, it is characterized as a low-vigor rootstock that promotes early entry of the tree into bearing.

The plant has a weak root system and a tendency to lodging, which is why it requires mandatory installation of a support.
