The tree is distinguished by high vigor and a spreading crown shape. Fruiting is characterized by high productivity, but a tendency towards biennial bearing. Fruit-bearing structures consist of spurs and twigs, flowering time is medium.
The fruits have an elongated truncated-conical shape resembling an animal's muzzle, which is why the variety is also called Muso di Bue. The taste of the fruits may have an astringent or slightly bitter note. Ripe fruits are characterized by a long storage period, lasting until February-March, sometimes until May.
The variety is a historical local cultivar known in Italy since the 16th-17th centuries. Currently, it is considered an object of agrobiodiversity conservation and a genetic resource traditionally used in home gardening.
