The variety is native to the province of Lucca, specifically the Garfagnana and Camporgiano areas. There is a hypothesis that this apple tree may be a mutation of the ornamental species Malus floribunda, however, it is officially included in the lists of varieties of the species Malus domestica Borkh.

The plant is considered a genetic resource of local agrobiodiversity under protection. Detailed agrotechnical indicators, including resistance or yield characteristics, are not described due to the limited distribution of the variety.
