The Newton Wonder variety is a culinary apple tree with large flattened-round fruits. The fruit skin is smooth, greenish-yellow with a red or orange-red blush; the flesh is white and loose. Due to high acidity, the fruits are predominantly used for culinary processing and preservation.

The Newtown Pippin variety is a dual-purpose winter variety with good keeping quality of fruits for up to 5 months. The fruits are medium to large in size, flat-round, and green or greenish-yellow in color. The flesh is yellowish, crunchy, and has a sweet-and-sour taste and a characteristic pine aroma.
