Most often, the name Pfingstapfel refers to the Roter Bellefleur variety, which is characterized by high viability, low demands on growing conditions, resistance to diseases, and very late flowering. Its fruits with a sweet-spicy taste are universal in use.

This name may also cover the American variety Wagenerapfel. This tree is distinguished by vigorous growth at a young age, a tendency to biennial bearing, and high susceptibility to scab. The fruits have a sweet-sour taste with aromas of cinnamon and rosemary and are suitable for long-term storage.
