Variety description

10 August 2026

Under the trade name "Queen", many different varieties appear in horticulture. Most often, they are clones of the Jonagold variety, for example, Early Queen. This is a winter variety with a broadly pyramidal crown and large yellow-green fruits weighing 200–250 g, having an intense brownish-red blush and juicy sweet-sour flesh.

There are also historical varieties, such as the summer apple tree Summer Queen, known since the beginning of the 19th century with a vigorous spreading crown, or Queen Cox — a clone of the Cox's Orange Pippin variety. Since the name "Queen" is often used for marketing purposes for different types of plants, including roses, the full name of the variety is required for identification.
