The variety is a globally recognized horticultural crop grown for commercial apple production. In Slovenian official registers, it is registered under the code MAD051 as the equivalent of the Red Delicious variety.

In commercial fruit growing, the variety is characterized by a tendency towards alternate bearing. In scientific studies of physiological processes related to fruit ripening and gene expression, the variety is often used as a reference object for comparison with other varieties, including Zlati delišes.
