The fruits of this variety have firm flesh and a pleasant taste. The skin is dry, slightly rough, and upon ripening acquires a raspberry-red or dark red hue with noticeable grey-brown or russet spots resembling stars.

The variety is traditionally grown as high-stem trees on seedling rootstocks in meadow-type orchards. The variety is adapted to local climatic conditions and is maintained as a historically significant variety for the preservation of biological diversity.
