The fruits have juicy, soft flesh with a refreshing taste identical to the base variety. The tree is characterized by vertical and spreading growth. It is a summer ripening variety; the fruits are prone to rapid softening after harvest and are sensitive to mechanical damage.

This type is an officially recognized red mutant of the James Grieve variety. The fruits are not intended for long-term storage and require relatively quick consumption.
