The VERDEDONCELLA variety is known as a local crop of the Jalón and Jiloca river valleys in Spain. The fruits of the variety belong to the group of green apples.

The plant was traditionally grafted onto seed rootstocks. In scientific publications, trees of this variety are used for studying the enzyme polyphenol oxidase, the allergenic composition of fruits, and as indicators of viral diseases.
