The variety forms a powerful, wide-spreading crown and can reach 6–8 meters in height. Fruits range from small to medium size, often slightly ribbed. Their ground color is light yellow; the overcolor varies from bright red to carmine red with characteristic stripes and a waxy bloom.

The flesh is juicy and fine-grained; the taste is characterized as wine-sweet with a slight spiciness. Harvesting takes place from mid-September to early October; consumer maturity occurs from October to December. The fruits are resistant to dropping.

The plant is characterized by high winter hardiness and longevity, and is resistant to diseases and pests, although infection with scab or powdery mildew is possible under adverse conditions. Yields are high, but prone to biennial bearing.
