The Winterstreeping variety, also known by the synonyms Rambour d'Hiver, Rambourg Rouge and Rheinischer Winterrambour, is an old variety of unknown origin that became widespread in Europe, particularly in Flanders. Historically, the fruits of this variety were actively exported to England.

A winter variety whose fruits have good natural keeping quality. A feature of the tree is the brittleness of its branches, which is why the variety is often called "Scheurappel". The plant is traditionally grown in the form of high-stem trees.
