The variety Winterzitrone, also known as Winterzitronenapfel, is a traditional apple variety. Depending on the region of origin, characteristics may vary; in particular, the variety from the Lake Constance region is not identical to those described in historical pomological works of the early 20th century.

Fruits are large: the average height is 69 mm, the diameter is 80 mm. The taste of the fruits is subtle and aromatic. The variety is a winter one; the storage period in a refrigerator is limited to December. The variety from Lake Constance shows low susceptibility to scab and medium susceptibility to powdery mildew.
