The tree is vigorous, forms a wide and large crown, and is suitable for growing as standard trees. The variety exhibits good general winter hardiness; flowering is mid-late, which reduces the risk of damage from spring frosts. It prefers wind-protected sites, nutritious and sufficiently moist soils, and is suitable for cultivation in high-altitude areas up to 1000 m.

The fruits are large or very large, ranging from flat-round to uneven and ribbed. The skin is smooth, yellow-green at harvest, and becomes golden-yellow with a red blush or stripes during storage. The flesh is yellowish-white, sweetish with a slight acidity and a spicy aroma. Harvest maturity occurs in mid-October, consumer maturity from December to March or April.

The variety is triploid and requires the planting of pollinator varieties. Yield is high but often periodic (bearing fruit every other year). It is characterized by resistance to a number of diseases, however, it shows susceptibility to powdery mildew and fruit rots, including apple tree canker.

It is used fresh, in cooking, baking, and for processing into juice. Historically, the variety has been known since the period of 1650–1700.
