The Eva-Lotta variety was bred in Sweden. Genetic studies confirm that it is the result of crossing Cortland and James Grieve varieties. The tree has green, oval, serrated leaves that turn a bronze hue in the autumn.
Fruits are very large, flat-round in shape, with a yellow ground color of the skin and a red blush. The flesh is yellowish-white, juicy and crisp, and has a sweet taste with a hint of acidity. The variety belongs to the late-maturing category; fruits are ready for harvest in mid-October.
The variety is used as a table apple and is also highly valued for the production of juices and ciders.
