The tree has moderate vigor, a spreading crown, and a fruiting habit where the crop is formed on spurs. The variety enters fruiting 4–5 years after planting. Due to a tendency for heavy cropping, fruit thinning and the installation of supports are required to prevent branch breakage.
The fruits are medium-sized, round-conical in shape, with greenish-yellow skin covered by a dark red or purple blush and stripes. The flesh is firm, juicy, and white or greenish-white in color. The variety is ready for harvest in October and retains consumer qualities until January.
The variety shows high resistance to powdery mildew and canker, while some susceptibility to scab is noted. Laxton's Superb is considered more reliable to grow compared to the Cox's Orange Pippin variety.
