The rootstock is characterized by very vigorous growth, comparable to seedling rootstocks, and trees on it reach a height of 6 meters or more. It is intended for use in traditional orchards and adapts well to conditions with high humidity, winds, and replant sites.
The plant has some resistance to collar rot, but is susceptible to woolly apple aphid. Trees grafted onto it begin bearing fruit later than on dwarfing rootstocks, however, M-25 is capable of stimulating relatively early flowering for rootstocks of its vigor group.
