The rootstock was obtained as a result of crossing M.13 and M.9. Trees on this rootstock reach 20–50% of the size of trees on seedling rootstocks, usually not exceeding 1.8–2 meters in height. Due to a weak root system, the plant requires the installation of a permanent support during its entire lifespan.
It is characterized by high precocity, often producing the first harvest in the year of planting or the following year. The rootstock is highly susceptible to fire blight, relatively resistant to root and crown rot, and is weakly affected by burr knots.
It is used as a base for grafting apple varieties in intensive orchards, container cultivation, or on small plots where tree height restriction is necessary. In commercial gardening, it is rarely used due to the need for careful maintenance, including irrigation, fertilization, and fixation on supports.
