The tree reaches a height of 4–7 meters, possesses a loose crown with thin branches and characteristic woody spurs on the trunk. The alternate leaves have an oval shape and pronounced pubescence. Flowering occurs in late May or June; the buds have a carmine-pink hue, and the opened flowers are white or pinkish in color.
The fruits are small apples up to 2.5 cm in diameter, round or oblong in shape, colored in yellow-orange tones with a red blush. The species is characterized by high winter hardiness and immunity to scab and powdery mildew. The fruits are edible, but due to their small size and sour-astringent taste, they are rarely consumed fresh.
