The Skilig (P.2) rootstock is characterized by a vigor similar to M.9 on fertile soils, while the overall tree size is smaller. The degree of anchorage in the soil corresponds to the level of the M.9 rootstock, and propagation is accompanied by the formation of a small amount of root suckers.
The plant possesses winter hardiness but is sensitive to short periods of drought and infestation by woolly apple aphid. When using this rootstock, good apple yields are ensured, although fruit size reduction may be observed if irrigation is insufficient.
