The variety belongs to the Virginia (flue-cured) type and is an F1 hybrid that was used in commercial production from 1973 to 2007.

During comparative studies, the DH33 variety showed a nicotine content of 4.55%, which is higher than that of the control variety NC 55. The content of reducing sugars does not differ significantly from the control variety. Morphological indicators, such as plant height and leaf parameters, were studied in comparative trials with a number of other hybrids.
