The Wika variety was developed by the Central Laboratory of the Tobacco Industry in Krakow. It demonstrates good leaf yield indicators and possesses worthy quality characteristics of the obtained raw material.

The variety is mentioned as recommended for cultivation in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship of Poland. In scientific literature, the variety is considered in the context of genetic studies on the resistance of Polish tobacco varieties to potato virus Y (PVY).
