The Wilga variety belongs to the Nicotiana tabacum L. species and is mentioned in the works of Polish research institutes as a subject of agrotechnical research and as a Virginia-type variety. Detailed morphological descriptions, such as plant height, maturity group, or quality indicators, are absent in open sources.

In phytopathology, the name Wilga is most often encountered as the designation for an isolate of Potato virus Y (PVYN-Wilga). This strain is used as a reference when conducting laboratory studies to evaluate the resistance of new tobacco varieties and other solanaceous crops to viral diseases.
