The Wirgo variety, also known as Wirgo 1 or VRG1, belongs to the group of light Virginia type tobacco varieties. It is a cytoplasmic male sterile first-generation (F1) hybrid, and therefore incapable of self-pollination.
The plant possesses morphological characteristics similar to the Wiślica variety, including the shape and number of leaves. The key advantage of the hybrid is its resistance to black root rot, potato virus Y, and tolerance to powdery mildew.
The variety is intended for industrial use, characterized by high yield and raw material quality typical of Virginia type tobaccos.
