The variety is officially known by the full name «Bučiansky žltý valec». The plant is a perennial crop with an economic use period typically of 4–5 years.

The variety is adapted for growth on poor, stony, and calcareous soils. The crop does not tolerate heavy soils with high groundwater levels. In forage crop rotations, the share of this variety in sowings reached 25%.
