The variety was selected from clones that demonstrated increased longevity in mixed stands with alfalfa and the ability to regrow quickly. The crop is earlier maturing compared to the standard Nova, maturing 7–10 days earlier. In pure stand trials, the variety exceeded the control sample in yield by 22–42%, and in mixed stands by 30–39%.

The seeds of the variety are larger than the standard; their thousand kernel weight is 20–24 g. The plant has good winter hardiness but is sensitive to waterlogged soil. The presence of condensed tannins in its composition contributes to better protein utilization by animals and prevents rumen bloat in cattle during grazing.
