The variety belongs to the lowland ecotype and is often referred to as an improved version of the Alamo variety. The plant is characterized by a tetraploid chromosome set and high biomass yield, while possessing an increased content of extractives that contribute to disease resistance.
Under conditions of the Mid-Atlantic region of the USA, the variety demonstrated limited winter hardiness with a survival rate of 40%. Like other lowland ecotypes, EG1101 is sensitive to low temperatures during the development period, which necessitates spring sowing.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
