The Sirio rootstock, formerly known as I.S. 5/22, is characterized by a vigour 40% lower than that of the GF 677 rootstock. It contributes to high yields, improved fruit skin coloration, and larger fruit size in grafted trees.
The plant is well adapted to fertile permeable soils and possesses resistance to calcareous soils, which prevents the development of chlorosis. It is propagated primarily by the in vitro method due to the low rooting ability of cuttings.
When grown on sites with soil fatigue following stone fruit crops, the rootstock may demonstrate increased tree mortality. This variety is not a fruit-bearing one and is used exclusively as a growth control tool in commercial orcharding.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
