The HAWARD variety is mentioned in scientific literature as an object for testing susceptibility to Apricot latent virus (ApLV). Unlike many other varieties that are asymptomatic carriers, this variety shows visible signs of infection, such as chlorotic spotting and leaf deformation.

At present, there is no data describing HAWARD as an agricultural crop with characteristics of yield, maturity, plant morphology, or fruit description. The name HAWARD is often mistakenly confused with the Hayward kiwifruit variety or the surnames of historical orchard owners.
