The variety belongs to the category of folk selection and is cultivated in the area of the Vesuvius National Park. The plant was formed as a result of centuries of selection by local farmers and represents an autochthonous type typical for this Italian region.

The fruits are distinguished by a pronounced aroma, sweet taste, and yellow-orange skin, which may have red specks or a blush. Due to the physical properties of the fruits, they are characterized by low transportability and poor keeping quality, so they are more often used for the production of jams and juices.

The variety grows on mineral- and potassium-rich volcanic soils. It is a rare object of significance for the conservation of agricultural biodiversity, however, detailed morphological characteristics and data on disease resistance in scientific literature are limited.
