The variety has the S2S4 genotype and belongs to the XIII self-incompatibility group. In scientific literature, it is considered an object for genetic study aimed at identifying historical varieties and conserving their genetic resources.

Despite the inclusion of the word «Lotkirsche» in its name, which traditionally indicates a sour cherry or hybrid forms, the variety is classified as a sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.).
