Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is considered a chance seedling discovered in Germany around 1785. The tree is vigorous, capable of reaching a height of up to 20 meters. The fruits have a heart shape with a characteristic groove, shiny dark red or black skin, and a long thin pedicel.

The fruit flesh is dark red, firm, and has a sweet wine-like taste. The variety is self-sterile and requires a pollinator tree; it may also exhibit intersterility with some varieties. Fruits are prone to cracking, and ripening occurs in mid-July or early August.
