The variety belongs to the species Prunus domestica and is an old traditional type of prune plum. The tree reaches a height of 4–6 meters depending on the cultivation form. It is a productive and hardy variety suitable for growing in orchards on fertile soils with sufficient sunlight.

The fruits have an elongated shape and a dark purple, almost black color. The flesh is characterized by juiciness, sweet taste, and the ability to separate well from the stone. The variety is self-sterile and requires the presence of pollinator varieties such as Belle de Louvain or Marjorie's Seedling.

The harvest matures late, in the second half of September to early October, with a delay in harvesting having a positive effect on the taste qualities of the fruits. The variety is highly valued for its culinary properties and is often used in baking.
