The rootstock is characterized by moderate vigor and the ability to adapt well to heavy, wet, and cold soils due to its superficial root system. It is tolerant to acidic soils, however, it exhibits sensitivity to high lime content at pH levels above 8.2–8.3.

Trees grafted onto this rootstock are distinguished by early onset of fruiting and good compatibility with most peach and nectarine varieties. Historically, it is classified as a seedling of unknown origin belonging to the group Prunus domestica subsp. insititia.
